It’s no secret that it can be tough to get some guys to go into the doctor for proper health screenings. In fact, that’s why June is Men’s Health Month.
According to The American Heart Association, some of the common excuses men give for not seeing a doctor include There’s probably nothing wrong or My spouse has been nagging me to get a checkup, and I don’t want to go.
We get it, but men’s health does matter. So this Father’s Day, here are some simple steps for any dad to stay well:
Aim for seven to nine hours of good sleep per night. If bathroom trips have been interrupting dad’s sleep, it’s time for a chat with the urologist.
Quit smoking to lower your risk of cancer, COPD, high blood pressure and more.
Exercise for 150 minutes weekly with aerobic and muscle-strengthening exercises.
Try to eat a healthy diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables every day.
Manage stress in a positive way by avoiding drugs and alcohol, and be sure to connect socially for support when you need it.
Keep routine checkups and know your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers.
