Stay properly hydrated. What this actually means can be difficult to determine, with related internet searches returning millions of results from sites ranging from respectable medical to random blogger. In part, that’s because actual water intake needs vary based on a number of factors, including exertion levels and humidity readings. Your body is generally pretty good about telling you when you need to hydrate, so thirst can ate least provide a baseline for hydration. Staying property hydrated in important for your entirely urologic system, but particularly helpful for the kidneys.
Talk with a doctor if you notice something unusual. From pain and tenderness to changes in urine color, the body puts out some noticeable signs for many conditions that impact it. When those present themselves, talk with your doctor for a determination on whether what you’re experiencing is likely a sign of a larger issue. If it is, our board-certified physicians are ready to walk with you from diagnosis through treatment with expertise and compassion.
Practice good hygiene. For most people, proper hygiene can prevent many UTIs. Beyond that, these good practices can help keep out bacteria that can cause a host of issues.
Take care of other health issues that can impact the urinary system. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can have negative impacts on your urologic system. To avoid those, follow your physician’s recommendations for dealing with these conditions, from improving your diet to following a medication regimen.
Eat a good diet. We know, this one was already covered in that bit about overall health, but it’s worth mentioning again here because of the impact the foods and drinks we take in can have on urologic health.
